Developed specifically for this ScreenSkills programme, the Camera Bootcamp builds on Eye Film’s extensive experience of delivering practical camera workshops and industry training.

The programme will be delivered by a five-person training team led by Cameron Black, alongside Christopher Sharman, Max Knaapen, Annu Kolthammer, and Andy Prosser. Together, they bring extensive experience across broadcast documentaries, unscripted production, commercial filmmaking, technical training, and production management.

Cameron Black – Lead Trainer

Cameron is a director, camera operator, and editor with more than eight years of experience across broadcast and commercial production. He has delivered content for the BBC and Channel 4, while his commercial work has received multiple industry awards.

Over the past five years, Cameron has delivered practical training, mentoring, and technical support for new and early-career filmmakers, including through the Media Learning Company at City College Norwich. He combines technical precision with real-world production experience, helping participants develop the confidence to shoot to a broadcast-ready standard.

Cameron is highly experienced with Sony FX6, FX3, FX9, and FS7 camera systems, Canon DSLRs, and Adobe Creative Suite workflows.

Christopher Sharman

Christopher is an experienced director of photography who began his career at ITV before spending five years filming news and current affairs documentaries as a BBC staff cameraman.

Since becoming freelance in 2007, he has filmed documentaries around the world for broadcasters including the BBC, National Geographic, PBS, and ARTE. His work also spans commercials, feature films, and award-winning shorts.

Christopher has guest lectured in cinematography at Norwich University of the Arts and delivered workshops for organisations including BAFTA, the BBC, and the Prince’s Trust.

Max Knaapen

Max is a documentary filmmaker and director of photography specialising in authentic, emotionally driven storytelling.

After beginning his career through the Media Learning Company, Max joined Eye Film as a camera operator, editor, and director, working across broadcast documentaries, branded content, and commercial campaigns. He also supported early-career filmmakers with camera operation, shot planning, and post-production.

Now working as a freelance cinematographer across Europe, Max has experience with Sony, RED, ARRI, and Blackmagic camera systems, specialising particularly in Sony FX6 workflows.

Annu Kolthammer

Annu is a creative producer, Head of Production, and First Assistant Director with more than ten years of experience across broadcast, commercial, documentary, and short film production.

Her experience covers budgeting, scheduling, logistics, production workflows, post-production management, and final delivery. She is also an experienced self-shooter using Sony FX3 and FX6 cameras, with editing experience in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Over the past eight years, Annu has delivered training through the Media Learning Company and mentored young people entering the creative industries, including as a trainer for BFI Film Academies.

Andy Prosser

Andy is a Royal Television Society award-winning camera operator, editor, and certified drone pilot who has worked across broadcast, documentary, and branded content since 2019.

Before entering production, Andy delivered training in the corporate sector for Aviva, informing his approachable and structured training style. At Eye Film, he has worked on projects ranging from fast-turnaround interviews to commercial campaigns and factual documentaries.

Andy has extensive experience with Sony FX6, FX3, FX9, and A7S II cameras, as well as drones and gimbals. During the bootcamp, he will support practical camera exercises and review sessions.

Mark Dodd

Mark is a documentary producer and freelance lighting camera operator. 
He spent 20 years as a BBC location cameraman filming worldwide and refining his skills in all factual television genres. In 2008 he left the BBC to form his own production company, making a number of multi award-winning environmental documentaries in Africa which he produced, directed and shot.
His BBC engineering, and location lighting training has provided him with a high degree of technical knowledge which he uses today in teaching Cinematography fundamentals to the next generation of filmmakers.

Anna Little

Anna Little is a shooting producer/director with more than 25 years of experience working in factual entertainment and current affairs television including for BBC Studios, the BBC, CNN, Channel 4, ITN, (CBS, ABC, The Guardian, Reuters, Al Jazeera, and APTN). 

She has extensive filming experience and understands the pressures of juggling multiple roles concurrently after operating alone as a video journalist in Africa and Asia for a decade confidently shooting, doing her own sound and lighting. (She brought that experience to the UK, making films for prime-time BBC programmes.)

Anna strongly believes in knowledge-sharing and for more than 12 years has been designing and delivering filmmaking training (and video journalism training) for BBC Media Action all around the world. She also volunteers as a mentor for the UK ‘Women in Journalism’ network and, with a nurturing and empathetic approach, is particularly focused on empowering more female shooters.
